My Gluten Free Hen Party

This isn't my usual kind of post and it's been nearly 8 months since my hen party, but I recently found the photos and really wanted to share and document it, it's full of happy memories.

It was a great day filled with lots of fabulous gluten free food, fizz and friends.

Nine of my friends & family and I started off at mine with a spread I put together of Buck's Fizz, crudités, chips and dip, mini cauliflower pizzas, caprese sticks, strawberries, strawberry & polenta muffins and sandwiches.

Luckily the weather was great so we had drinks on the patio in lovely warm weather.

After getting suitably tipsy, we headed off to the Brighton Cookery School, a big kitchen in Kemp Town. It was great fun, learning to cook a fancy three course meal taught by a top chef whilst drinking lots of wine.

Although it is not a gluten free facility, they did cater for my needs. The majority of the ingredients were naturally gluten free anyway but for the parts that did contain gluten, there was a substitute for me and they kept my food separate.

What we made and ate:
Starter: Homemade sushi (this was my favourite as I had never had it before) - I omitted the dipping sauces

Main: Free range chicken stuffed with three cheeses served with white wine sauce, greens and
(amazing) roast potatoes

Dessert: Chocolate torte and strawberry coulis

After learning to cook these fantastic dishes and drinking copious amounts of sparkling wine, we sat down to enjoy an amazing three course meal.  I really enjoyed the fun of cooking with my friends and then eating together. All the food was delicious and I have recreated it at home since.

If we hadn't had enough wine already, we then headed to the My Hotel cocktail bar on Jubilee Street where Harry and the bar staff made us amazing (flaming!) cocktails and I had some delicious champagne. Finishing the day off perfectly.

Thanks to everyone that made it such a great day!
